A log of places I've been.

New York
United States
Five boroughs at the mouth of the Hudson, seen from the water and the streets.

London
United Kingdom
The Square Mile, the river, and the royal parks, collected as the seasons turned.

Mexico City
Mexico
A pyramid on the main square, a boulevard that remembers everything, and more tacos and steak than strictly advisable.

Hyderabad
India
A glass city with a lake in the middle, a Ganesha on every dashboard, and a palace on a hill that seats 101 for dinner.

Monterrey
Mexico
Mexico's business capital parked inside a mountain range, with a turquoise canal, a golf course under the office window, and a hotel bakery worth the flight.

Paris
France
The tower from every angle, a morning in the Louvre, a boat at dusk, and a spring day out at Disneyland Paris.

Madrid
Spain
A November lived after dark. Christmas lights over every street, jamón at the Mercado de San Miguel, the Bernabéu mid-rebuild, one golden goodbye.

Cyprus
Mediterranean
Cyprus in October. Limassol's seafront, a Larnaca mezze, Paphos harbour, and an afternoon of camels and lemurs near Mazotos.

Rome
Italy
June in Rome, lived after dark. The Spanish Steps at every hour, the Pantheon at nine in the morning, a green lake in Villa Borghese, and Einaudi at the Cavea.

Malta
Mediterranean
Valletta and Mdina in November. Gilded chapels, harbour light, painted balconies, and a city already dressed for Christmas.

Brussels
Belgium
A rainy December walk that turned out to hold the whole city. The Grand Place changing colors, Manneken Pis in costume, and Europe explained with figurines.

Athens
Greece
The Athens I keep an open tab with. A museum facing its own subject, storm light on the Parthenon, and live music from Lycabettus to the marble stadium to the sea.

Milan
Italy
Two rival football stores sixty metres apart, the Galleria at full tide, the Duomo kept for the good light, and a neighbourhood watching the sun drop into a canal.

Brighton
United Kingdom
Brighton in winter. Christmas lights on the clock tower, handpumps and bookshops, storm light on the piers, and a staircase I am still thinking about.

Verona
Italy
August on the Adige. The Arena at dusk, dinner above a rushing river, a midday inside Sirmione's lake castle, and the whole city explained from a hill.

Dublin
Ireland
Winter light on the Liffey. Trinity's Long Room, a small Earth under the barrel vault, St James's Gate, and the docklands lighting up after dark.
