A rainy December walk that turned out to hold the whole city. The Grand Place changing colors, Manneken Pis in costume, and Europe explained with figurines.

The Athens I keep an open tab with. A museum facing its own subject, storm light on the Parthenon, and live music from Lycabettus to the marble stadium to the sea.

Brighton in winter. Christmas lights on the clock tower, handpumps and bookshops, storm light on the piers, and a staircase I am still thinking about.

August on the Adige. The Arena at dusk, dinner above a rushing river, a midday inside Sirmione's lake castle, and the whole city explained from a hill.

Winter light on the Liffey. Trinity's Long Room, a small Earth under the barrel vault, St James's Gate, and the docklands lighting up after dark.
